An onmyōji of the mid-Heian period. Hailing from Harima Province, he and Abe no Seimei were rival onmyōji. A type of amulet used in Shima called a "Dōman Seiman" was named after the two of them. He tried to curse the powerful Fujiwara no Michinaga, but was foiled by Seimei and exiled. Legend says that while Seimei was away in China, Dōman had an affair with his wife. When Seimei returned, Dōman murdered him, but his teacher brought him back to life so he could kill Doman.
