Description[]
1567 - 1636
A samurai of the Azuchi-Momoyama period through the early Edo period. Due to his missing eye, he was often called the "one-eyed dragon." Born in Yonezawa Castle, he fought rival warlords to extend his influence until he became the greatest power in the Tōhoku region. However, he eventually yielded to the great unifier, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. After Hideyoshi's death, he followed Tokugawa Ieyasu and the Edo shogunate. He remained ambitious, however, and secretly sent a retainer to Spain to form a military alliance. After the Battle of Sekigahara, he founded the city of Sendai and took up residence in its castle. he was known for being fashionable and gaudy.
