Hijikata Toshizō is a Defense type Mitama introduced in Toukiden: The Age of Demons.
Description[]
1835 - 1869
The vice-commander of the Shinsengumi at the end of the Edo period. He supported Commander Kondō Isami and led the Shinsengumi with his cool decisiveness. Using a severe code of discipline, deserters and traitors were executed or forced to commit suicide. His enforcement was so strict that the most common cause of death among the Shinsengumi was ritual suicide. He commanded shogunate forces during the Boshin War. After Kondō's death, he fled to the Goryōkaku fortress in Hakodate and continued the resistance with Enomoto Takeaki. He was killed by a stray bullet in the Battle of Hakodate. There is speculation that he was actually shot by his comrades because he insisted on resisting until the bitter end.
