John Manjirō is a Space type Mitama introduced in Toukiden: The Age of Demons, changing to Luck type in Toukiden 2.
Description[]
1827 - 1898
An educator at the end of the Edo period. Born in Nakahama, Tosa Province, his boat was wrecked in a storm while out fishing. He was rescued by an American ship and brought to America. After studying English, surveying, shipbuilding, and navigation, he returned to Japan. After the arrival of Perry's black ships, the shogunate realized they needed knowledge about America, so they called on John. However, he was looked down on by the other samurai and left office. His advice was instrumental in negotiating the Convention of Kanagawa. When the Harris Treaty was ratified, he was sent to America as an envoy on the Kanrin-maru. When the ship's captain, Katsu Kaishū, became seasick, he took over the handling of the ship.
