Description[]
1104 - 1180
A samurai at the end of the Heian period and the great-great-grandson of Minamoto no Yorimitsu. Legend says that he defeated a chimera-like monster called a Nue. During the Heiji Rebellion, he became affiliated with the Minamoto because he served Emperor Nijō, but switched sides when the emperor lent his support to Taira no Kiyomori. As a result, the Taira clan was victorious while the Minamoto clan fell into decline. Having won Kiyomori's trust, he was promoted to an unusually high rank. He plotted with Prince Mochihito to overthrow the Taira, but was killed during a Taira attack. However, Prince Mochihito's commands inspired Minamoto no Yoshitomo to raise an army and ruin the Taira.
