The supportive wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. At 14, she married a boy who lived in the same household named Tõkichirō, who would later take the name Hideyoshi. They married out of love, which was rare at the time. The couple was happy, but were not able to produce children. Oda Nobunaga once sent her a letter saying he thought Hideyoshi despicable for flirting with other women. After Hideyoshi became regent, she was given the title Kita no Mandokoro. After his death, she left Osaka Castle in the hands of her son, Hideyori, and became a nun, taking the name Kōdai-in.
