A deity from Ainu mythology. His name means "wearer of sparkling clothing," and he is also known by the name as "Ainu-rakkuru" (god in human form). He invented the net, and the bow and arrow. In ancient times, the earth and the people on it were plagued by attacks from the demon-gods, and Okikurumi's wife, a swan goddess, was also lured into the world of darkness by these demon-gods. Using the power of his father, god of thunder and lightning, Okikurumi set the kingdom of darkness on fire, destroying the demon-gods, and restoring peace to the world. After this, however, it is said that humans grew corrupt and deserted the earth, allowing disaster and evil to return.
