"Slayers. The brave warriors who fight Oni. They have lived away from prying eyes since ancient times, defending the world of man. A new fight now begins in Mahoroba, using a mysterious new power."
—Another Begining synopsis.
Toukiden 2 (討鬼伝2, Tōkiden 2; roughly translated as "Legend of the Demon Slayers 2") is an action role-playing video game developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo, and the sequel to Toukiden: Kiwami, being the third main game in the series.
Players who bought the game on launch day received a code for a Tenko costume and a custom theme for the PS Vita version. The Gamecity and Amazon set includes all the Treasure Box bonuses, along with key charms with chibi versions of various characters, two plastic folders and a code for the Mitama Nyabraham Linnyahn.
Gameplay[]
Like in the previous games, players take on the role of a customizable Slayer and battle the supernatural beings known as Oni with up to three party members. However, Toukiden 2 has many additions to the hunting game formula, particularly an open world with connected areas and no loading time between each of them. The combat system has been reworked, with every weapon receiving new moves or effects and two new weapons being added, the sword & shield and the chain whip. A new tool called the Demon Hand gives more mobility and verticality to players, allowing them to perform many different actions both in and out of battle. Other major changes include:
- An overhaul to the Mitama system: they start with two to three boosts and can level up themselves and their boosts during battle. Thanks to the Demon Hand, they can also offer Evasion Skills when equipped on your armor or Attack Skills when equipped on the Demon Hand itself;
- A new Mitama type: Control, which focuses on summoning elemental pets;
- Quests can now be found in the village and throughout the map and are issued by real NPCs;
- You can roam around the village in multiplayer lobbies, meaning you have access to important facilities like the blacksmith and the Pool of Purity;
- Large Oni can enter a complete destruction state if their major body parts have been permanently destroyed with the new special attack, Oni Burial;
- New forms of interacting with other players: reliquaries and Joint Operations;
- You can now rescue Tenko in Joint Operations and have up to 7 of them in the village. When their mood is at max level, you can take them with you to the open world;
- You can send Piko, a machina doll, to any region you have visited to collect materials for you, similar to how Tenko worked in the previous games. By changing its brain circuit, you can change the type of materials it brings back.

A free-to-play version focused on the multiplayer mode, featuring microtransactions.
Treasure Box Edition[]
Japan exclusive, it includes an art book, two CDs with the soundtrack, nine character illustrations and an exclusive outfit based on Tokitsugu.[3]
Trivia[]
- According to the northern Oni's descriptions, Toukiden 2 takes place a year and a half after Toukiden: Kiwami.
- One of the reasons why Toukiden 2 never got an expansion might be the lack of room in the map for many more locations. It would also not make sense to add new Ages since the existing ones already represent the most important historical periods of Japan.
